Jim Horn began his career at Sun Ship Building and Dry-dock Co., during which time he served an apprenticeship in drafting and design at the shipyard.
Jim then transitioned to a marine consulting firm in Chadds Ford, PA, where he was a supervisor overseeing the electrical design on numerous civilian and private vessels.
In 1983, Jim joined the Tri-M team as a designer/estimator. After just two years with Tri-M, he was promoted to Sr. Project Manager overseeing the largest project in the history of Tri-M at that time. Jim was then promoted to General Manager of the Electrical Construction Division in 1986, which had approximately 45 employees and an annual volume of $5,000,000. By 1993, just ten years after his initial hire date, Jim was promoted to Vice President of Tri-M Electrical Construction Corp. which had over 115 employees and annual volume of over $13,000,000. Jim’s talent, dedication and commitment were once again acknowledged in 1995, when he was promoted to President of Tri-M, the position he continues to hold today. Under Jim’s leadership, Tri-M today employs approximately 500 employees.
In addition to the rigors of running a $100,000,000 company, Jim makes time to give back to the community that has been such an integral part of the success of the company. He is a Charter member of the Longwood Rotary Club (with perfect attendance for 24 years). Jim was awarded Person of the Year by the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce (SCCCC) in 2008 and from 2011-2019, served on the Board of the SCCCC Rt. 1 Economic Development Steering Committee. Jim is currently Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Brandywine Valley Y. Prior to assuming this position, he served on the Board for nine years. Jim was Past-President of Southeast PA Chapter ABC, and has held many other volunteer positions too numerous to mention. Under Jim’s direction, Tri-M plays a major role toward the betterment of our local community.
In his spare time, Jim enjoys spending time with his very supportive wife, Betty, and their three sons, Eric, David & Devin, and three grandchildren, Madison, Mason and Aubrey. He also restores old vehicles and has earned numerous awards on them, both locally and nationally.
